Employment verification products have been integrated into First Advantage’s AI technology, SmartHub™, which leverages machine learning and proprietary algorithms to quickly search across multiple data sources to determine the optimal verification source based on speed, data quality, and cost-effectiveness.
What changes are being made?
On this upcoming invoice, you may see the lower SmartHub fee on your employment verifications. We have only charged this fee if we were successfully able to avoid The Work Number/TALX verification fee, notated as ‘WN VOE Access Fee’ on invoices. There are no changes to the verification details or manual verification processes.

What is SmartHub Logic? Does the verification quality or accuracy decline?
SmartHub is an automated system that will continue to learn and improve efficiency over time. First Advantage’s proprietary AI technology intelligently routes the candidate’s employment verifications to the sources that have the highest likelihood of being able to fulfill the verification.
Will my bills be larger with SmartHub™
No; They will be lower. We anticipate a 15 to 30% reduction in out-of-pocket costs, and this includes the SmartHub Recommendation Fee from First Advantage. Only when SmartHub is successful at avoiding The Work Number/TALX will there be a fee associated with SmartHub. To maximize cost saving benefits, we recommend submitting all prior employment for verification at the same time. We have answered our clients’ requests of lowering fees by investing in and enhancing our verifications more effectively for the same level of quality they have come to know from First Advantage.
When does SmartHub apply to my case?
Each time an employment verification is requested as part of a background screening, the list of employers will be evaluated by SmartHub to determine the best method of verification.
How Does SmartHub Logic appear on an invoice?
If SmartHub logic diverts verifications from The Work Number, then your invoice will show “SmartHub Recommendation Fee”.
Does SmartHub appear on individual reports?
No. Background screening reports only detail out the sources used for verification and SmartHub is a technology that routes the best means of verification. For instance, if manual verification or TALX is utilized, only this detail would be visible.
